Interview Process: what’s it look like?

:fueled: Step 1: Questionnaire / Samples of Work

Once your resume / CV is submitted, our talent team will review your application. If your experience appears to align with the role, we may ask you to complete a short questionnaire to gather additional context.

For more technically-focused roles, we will likely also request work samples (e.g. code or design samples) to get a better sense of how well your skills align with our standards and best practices.

:fueled: Step 2: Screening Interview with Talent

If we see a potential fit, you’ll connect with a member of our talent team for an initial video call. In this conversation, we’ll:

Please note that for some roles, step 2 & 3 may be reversed.

:fueled: Step 3: Discipline-Specific Exercise

Some candidates may be asked to complete a short take-home exercise that reflects hypothetical, job-relevant scenarios. These exercises:

:fueled: Step 4: Discipline Interview

Next, you’ll meet with a discipline director or a senior team member from the department you're applying to (e.g., Design, Engineering, Project Management, etc.). This stage focuses on role-specific questions and real-world problem-solving scenarios. Depending on the discipline, the format may vary. It could include a case study, a portfolio walkthrough, or a peer interview. In some cases, this stage may be split into two separate interviews.

While the structure can differ slightly depending on the role, we’ll always provide a clear overview of what to expect when scheduling the interview so you can feel confident and well-prepared.

:fueled: Step 5: Final Interview

Finalists typically meet with a Vice President, Discipline Leader, or other team stakeholder. This conversation may cover a mix of strategic, technical, and culture-alignment topics, and is a chance for both you and the leader to ask any remaining questions and discuss expectations for a potential offer.

:fueled: Step 6: Offer Stage

If we’re aligned on role fit and project needs, we’ll move into the offer process. We’ll collaborate closely with you to ensure clarity around compensation, logistics, and expectations.

Fueled Contractor Network

Working with Fueled: Our Contractor Process

At Fueled, we operate in a fast-moving, client-driven environment. Due to the nature of agency work, our hiring needs can shift quickly—sometimes within days, sometimes over the course of a few months.

For that reason, we don’t always hire against immediate openings. Instead, we maintain an active contractor network and stay in touch with candidates whose experience aligns with the type of work we take on. When the right opportunity arises, we’re able to move quickly and thoughtfully.

In some cases, we may:
