The Leitner system (also known as Leitner Boxes) is a powerful learning method for memorizing information using flashcards. It was created by the German science journalist Sebastian Leitner.

The system involves dividing your deck of cards into boxes and studying each box separately, depending on how often you recall the information on the cards.

It's really simple!

The example below assumes that you are using 3 boxes, but the idea is the same with more boxes.

1️⃣ You start with Box 1

• All cards start in box 1.
• You should revise the cards in Box 1 every day.

2️⃣ Next up is Box 2

• If you know a card that is in Box 1, it moves to Box 2, otherwise it stays in Box 1.
• You should revise the cards in Box 2 every three days.

3️⃣ Last up is Box 3

• If you know a card from Box 2, it moves to Box 3; if you don't, it goes back to Box 1.
• You should revise the cards in Box 3 every five days or so.
