This past week UXA hosted our “What is HCI” event where we talked about everything from what HCI actually is, how it’s different from UX/UI/other related disciplines, and what HCI looks like at CMU! Here are some key takeaways from the event:
- 👩💻 HCI stands for human-computer interaction and is the intersection of design, psychology, and computer science.
- 📖 When looking at both HCI and UX, HCI is more academically focused while UX is more industry focused.
- 💼 There are many career paths HCI can prepare you for including UX design, product design, UX research, and more!
- 😎 There’s lots going on at CMU for HCI!
- 💫 Check out the primary major, additional major, and minor offered at CMU!
