Our Improving Secondary Writing project provides schools with a scaled score, a 9-1 GCSE grade and a writing age for every student.

We create the 9-1 GCSE grades by layering them on top of our scaled score distribution. You can read more about this process here. It is possible for us to use exactly the same process to create a set of A*-G GCSE grades which will be more suitable for schools in Wales. Here are those boundaries.

You can download them here.

If you would like to apply these boundaries to your students, the simplest way to do so is to download the spreadsheet of your students' results and adjust the grades accordingly. Below are some screenshots that show you how to do this. Please note that it is not possible to update the PDF results report.

STEP ONE: Download the spreadsheet of your students' results by going to the task, clicking on Check results, and then Candidate Results. The spreadsheet will then automatically download.

STEP TWO: The scaled scores are in column J and the grades in column Q. You can now adjust the grades according your preferred boundaries.
