Problem

When viewing the Reports UI, users can freeze experiment visualizations to capture results up to a certain point in time, but there’s no clear visual cue that indicates when a chart is frozen. As a result, both viewers and contributors may misinterpret outdated data as live, undermining confidence in the report’s accuracy.

Currently, the run freeze indicator is only visible in edit mode, within the run set settings panel. Once a report is published, there’s no persistent indicator that the visualization is frozen. This can cause misinterpretation of results, especially among collaborators who only have view access.

Goals

• Clearly indicate whether a visualization is live or frozen when viewing published reports
• Display the data cutoff date via hover tooltip
• Maintain visual clarity and design consistency with existing Reports UI

Possible Solutions

Option 1: Add run freeze indicator to main chart

Viewable in edit mode and published mode, with a tooltip indicating the freeze date on hover.

• Pros: Always visible, even when run set panel is hidden; most transparent for viewers.
• Cons: Not grouped with other chart settings. Slight risk of visual clutter if multiple indicators are present.
