Our first exercise was creating using type scales to create a layout for a book to fit an Ipad pro 11”, this meant we could try and apply the key principles to our own designs. This helped me to get more confident using figma as I had not used it before. We also experimented with fonts, and choosing fonts that reflect the style of the work.
For Frankenstein as the style is gothic and because it was an inspiration for many science fiction books, I wanted to use a style that was bold and refined that also had a gothic element.

For the War of the worlds as the genre is sci-fi and the main plot of the book is alien invasion, I wanted the font to have a very modern and clean font to reflect the theme of space travel.

All brands use systems, which is a set of rules to ensure consistency throughout all their work and to ensure that anyone working in for the brand can format their designs correctly. Some examples of these are Adobe, Apple and BBC which all have the details about formatting work for them, from layout, images and typography. Below are examples of this within each website.
