This week in IXD501 we covered how to conduct research and the different methods that are available to us i.e interviews (structured and unstructured), questionnaires/surveys. As well as discussing the different examples of bias. These are all very important because it provides the foundation and main source of reference for us when creating our own project.

To finish the lesson, we were given a task to complete in our normal groups, to conduct user research for a new ‘blended learning’ tool for university students. We decided to try and improve blackboard for fellow University students, as well as lecturers.

We all worked as part of a team to try and complete the task quickly, as we only had a limited time to do so. There was no specific group responsibilities as such. We just communicated very effectively and completed our own tasks. I helped provided research and customer reviews of blackboard. Darach created the survey for us to complete on Google docs, so when the data was collected we could all work on the Affinity and empathy maps, priority matrix etc. together. This worked very effectively and we were able to provide a substantial amount of information/research within the limited timeframe. The link to the project on Figma can be shown below:
