Reflection
What questions do you still have about the model and the associated data? Are there elements you would propose including in the biography?
How does understanding the provenance of the model and its data inform your creative process?
- I’m curious about the diversity of the data, such as the proportions of gender, age, and ethnicity etc. To make data collection and processing more fair and reduce algorithmic bias, it might also help to involve a diverse group of people in the team, so that people with different backgrounds can participate.
- I’m also wondering whether the dataset has been curated or cleaned—what was removed, why, and according to what standards.
- Another concern I have is about user privacy. Does the dataset contain any sensitive information, such as faces, voices, or location data?
- Finally, based on my own experience of sometimes feeling lost when looking at the data, I think creating some visualizations for parts of the dataset could help users understand it more intuitively.
Coding Exercise
my p5 sketch!
I made a sketch inspired by The Matrix. Using ml5.js bodyPose, I detect the eyes’ position. The eyes move to hit falling digits, which bounce back when the eyes leave. The background shows a raining code effect like in the film.
