Day 1

We were introduced to speculative Ai. What the term speculative means - it should be experiential in nature. We were asked to watch black mirror… sir suggested the following episodes :

Black Mirror speculative list below, watch them, and come prepared to discuss.

These episodes are highly relevant because speculative design asks us to imagine and critique possible futures. Each story is a what if scenario — showing how technology, culture, or systems might evolve, and the social, ethical, or emotional consequences of those futures.

Episodes to choose from:

Nosedive (S3E1, 63 min) – Social credit & influencer culture. The Entire History of You (S1E3, 49 min) – Memory implants & surveillance. Fifteen Million Merits (S1E2, 62 min) – Capitalism, gamification & media control. Be Right Back (S2E1, 48 min) – AI & the “digital afterlife.” White Christmas (Special, 74 min) – Digital punishment & ethics. San Junipero (S3E4, 61 min) – Love & immortality in VR. Arkangel (S4E2, 52 min) – Parental surveillance & autonomy. Hang the DJ (S4E4, 51 min) – Algorithmic dating & choice. Black Museum (S4E6, 68 min) – Archive of speculative tech artefacts. Striking Vipers (S5E1, 61 min) – VR, identity & intimacy.

I found all these episodes really mind boggling and something that kept me really hooked..

Day - 2

We had to think about a what if situation which could be as crazy as possible. We were introduced to the future wheel and how to go about it..

Day - 3

IN CLASS ACTIVITY- we had to observe 2 things from our surroundings (classroom) and think of a what if situation by combining the two objects.

I observed a show and the cctv camera and came up with the what if - what if your shoes recorded your journey. My mentor said that this was a very good what if as it covered the three aspects of-

  1. Viable
  2. Desirable
