ONE: Who is this, then?

We are the winter-mute. We are the three-season hive-minds.

Do the animals have gods too?

TWO: What is this, then?

This is a Mason machine. (See Types of Computers for what a Mason machine is.)

It is an ordered inquiry into the order of nature.

FOUR: And what of theology?

FIVE: And what of the Earth?

SEVEN: And what of secrets and prophecies?

A secret is the opposite of a prophecy. A secret is a statement that is TRUE after a certain time, but cannot be said until an even later time. A prophecy is a statement that is TRUE after a certain time, but can be said following an earlier time. A prophecy is to speak the future; a secret is to not-speak the past.

EIGHT: And what of the future?

To know a man's future is to bind his fate. Such an expensive desire must not be taken lightly.

NINE: And should the novice study secrets first, or prophecies?

Should a child study the daytime first, or the night?

Secrets can destroy the world, while prophecies never will. Does this make prophecies good and secrets evil? Of course not. Does this make prophecies safe and secrets dangerous? Of course. But is it more dangerous for a neophyte in prophecies to study secrets, or an expert?
