“In silence, I still can hear your warmth.”
A Tokyo Debunker yumeship made by Hannie (hannkazuuu26 on Instagram or hannkazuu26 on Twitter/X).
“If eternity had a name between us, it would be the moment when the sky forgets to stay far away, and the earth forgets to let go.”
“I’m not sure I can give you much… but I don’t want to be anywhere else.” — Subaru “You always think you have to earn your place… but you’ve already made one.” — Hanaka
The dynamics of their relationship feel as though nothing is ever forced. It has formed naturally, on its own. Hanaka offers a gentle warmth that is never excessive, the kind of warmth that creates space rather than filling it, while Subaru welcomes her with an attentive and sincere presence, as if he has always been thinking of ways to stay by her side without causing her any pain.
They don’t rush each other, nor do they demand more than their partner can give. Instead, they move in a shared silence where understanding comes before words. Hanaka sees through her own doubts without voicing them, and Subaru, in turn, recognizes the tenderness she hides behind her kindness. Neither of them tries to fix the other. They simply remain, close enough to be felt, yet never pressing too hard.
This is a quiet love, built upon small moments and unspoken choices, where simply being present becomes more meaningful than anything that can be said.
“Oh, you don't need to call me Captain... I'm just a figurehead, really.” — Subaru

Hotarubi is known to house excellent students, and its hardworking captain is the embodiment of that. However, his strong sense of responsibility often leads him to bottle things up. Though a prominent kabuki actor since childhood, he is currently on hiatus.
“I want to live a life where I can sincerely say “I love today”.” — Hanaka

A second-year ghoul from Hotarubi, known for her gentle demeanor and quiet elegance. She carries an air shaped by years left unspoken, traces of a past that has faded but not fully disappeared. Soft-spoken and composed, her moves through the present with calm resolve, choosing warmth and hope as she steps forward.
“Even as everything faded away, your warmth remained.”
“Did you notice the petals falling earlier?” — Hanaka “I noticed them… when you did.” — Subaru
They didn’t speak, didn’t stop, didn’t change formation. Yet, there was a moment when everything seemed to soften.
Hanaka’s movements slowed at the edge of a step, not enough to disrupt the dance, just enough to make her aware of Subaru’s presence. Subaru, who was moving, sensed it before he understood it; his attention shifted away from the choreography for the first time. Their eyes met.
Not long enough to mean anything. Not so brief as to be forgotten. When the moment passed, they continued as before. Only now, they were aware of it.
Childhood — Gentle Beginning
Their first meeting as children took place in the world of performance, where both were shaped by tradition and expectation. What began as a brief encounter gradually grew into a quiet familiarity.
Hanaka’s warmth made it easy for her to approach him, while Subaru, though reserved, never turned her away. They spent small moments together, nothing remarkable to others, but meaningful in their own way.
He became someone she could speak to without fear, and she became someone he didn’t feel the need to avoid.
Early Teenagers — Growing Closer
As they grew older, the bond between them grew stronger, though it remained undefined. Hanaka remained openly gentle, but began to hide parts of herself as the pressure from her family increased. Subaru, meanwhile, became more aware of the silent struggles Hanaka was going through, even though he didn’t fully understand them.
They never spoke directly about their feelings.
Separation — Unspoken Distance
The turning point came when Hanaka was forced to leave. Under the weight of her family’s expectations, she chose to leave without fully explaining the truth. Their parting felt unfinished, gentle yet restrained, hinting at emotions deeper than words could express.
Subaru, who sensed her sadness but didn’t know how to react, chose not to press her further. Believing she needed some space, he let her go even though he, too, was reluctant to say goodbye.
Reunion — Silent Bittersweet
Their reunion felt bittersweet and silent. Hanaka had already walked away before Subaru could express his feelings, as she remembered their relationship in the past where he had gently rejected her when he thought she needed time to accept him, leaving her feelings hanging in a moment of uncertainty. When they met again, there was a sense of familiarity but also hesitation. She was gentle, but more reserved; she remained kind to him, more cautious.
Neither of them spoke of the past. Yet, the past remained hanging between them. Not as a conflict, but as something left unresolved. They stood close together, but unlike before, both were aware of something unspoken.
“I don’t want to lose you anymore… and not even because of the silence between us.” — Subaru “Stay here with me, I'll make sure there's always a place for you by my side.” — **Hanaka ****
After Subaru confessed his feelings, nothing suddenly became dramatic or thrilling in their relationship. Instead, the change was almost imperceptible to outsiders. They still spoke gently, still moved with the same careful steps, and something unspoken between them had finally found their place.
Before, there had always been a silent hesitation, a feeling that both were holding back from crossing a limit they had never defined. Now, the limit had disappeared.
Hanaka no longer needed to hide the way she approached Subaru, and Subaru no longer doubted whether he was allowed to feel what he felt. There's a quiet certainty in the way they look at each other, in the way they stay side by side without hesitation.
They didn’t suddenly become expressive or show affection openly. Their love was still quiet, still hidden in small moments through lingering glances, gentle words of comfort, simple acts of just being there. But now, there was no fear behind it. No distance pretending to be protection.
What they have feels the same as before, yet completely different. Because this time, nothing remains unresolved.
“Time has bridged the gap between who I was and who I am… and somehow, you were waiting at the other end.” — Subaru “There is a softness in growing older with you… like petals never fall, but simply change their light.” — Hanaka
After leaving Darkwick, Subaru and Hanaka chose to distance themselves entirely from the world of demons and stigma. With the lifting of their respective curses, both went through a period of adjustment, as their lives had long been shaped by abilities and burdens that were no longer part of their reality.
Subaru gradually adapted to the absence of Talnandio, no longer burdened by intrusive thoughts from others, while Hanaka learned to live without the subtle influence of Voreon, relying solely on her natural empathy and sincerity. Though the loss of their powers brought a sense of relief, it also required them to redefine their identities outside of what they had once been.
In time, they established a quiet, stable life together, prioritizing normalcy and emotional security over any connection to their past affiliations. After marriage, they shared a single surname and built a household centered on mutual support and simplicity.
As parents, Subaru and Hanaka made a deliberate decision to raise their children far removed from any involvement with demons or supernatural systems. They rejected the cycle of inherited burdens, ensuring that their children would not be exposed to the same risks or expectations they once faced.
Their parenting philosophy emphasizes emotional openness, personal freedom, and the absence of strength imposed through hardship. Rather than preparing their children to endure suffering, they focus on allowing them to grow in a safe and unburdened environment.
Overall, their life after Darkwick is defined by quiet stability, personal choice, and the conscious rejection of the path they once walked.
