How licensing and instances works

Instances and licenses

Each game panel on WISP is called an "instance". To link nodes to your instance, you'll need a single license for each node. When you order an instance, it comes with one free license for your first node.

There isn't a limit on the number of licenses an instance can have unless you're using the free version of WISP.

Managing your instances

Getting your instance

To order an instance, head over to our website and scroll down to view the packages. Then, follow the information on the website to get your first license. Once you've ordered your instance, you'll need to install the daemon on a node. You can find our installation guide here.

To login to your panel, you'll need to setup the admin account by following the link in the email we send you.

Upgrading & downgrading your instance

Upgrades and downgrades are prorated with credit refunds.

If you ordered our community package and upgrade it to the enterprise edition on the same day - you'll only need to pay the $5 difference to upgrade. Likewise, if you ordered our enterprise plan and decided to downgrade, you'll be credited $5, which will apply to your next invoice.

Cancelling & activating your instance

If you want to cancel an instance, you can do this by viewing the instance in the client portal & clicking the cancel subscription button.

Your instance would cancel at the end of the current billing period. However, if you change your mind, you can re-activate the subscription by clicking the activate button before the cancel date.

What happens if I can't pay on time

The payment would be retried 4 more times over the course of a week. If those 4 attempts fail, the panel will be terminated. If you need extra time or our assistance, let us know as soon as possible.

For the first 3 days, the panel will show admins a banner that your payment failed. If the invoice is still unpaid after that period, the panel will be fully suspended for everyone for 4 more days. Once the week is over, the panel is terminated. Data is removed to make room for new orders.

In the circumstance your panel is terminated unintentionally, we can recover the instance from backups. However, this is a labor-intensive process and incurs a fee ranging from $50-100 depending on the situation. If you have over 50 nodes, this fee is void, and the service is free.
