This week, I loaded the cleaned 3D model of myself from previous week to Unreal. I attempted at cleaning the texture png image that was generated via Wrap3, but since so much was distorted and I didn't particularly have a strong desire to use my textures from the 3D scan, I decided to load the chrome texture provided by Unreal Engine. I followed Matt's tutorial closely and removed the obstacles included in the third person game blueprint. I changed the material of the floor to be ocean water material, then also duplicated my original skeleton mesh for the ragdoll versions of the avatar to have a different material.

The readings this week talk about violence in games. One of stable topic of high school debate is "does violent video games have a correlation to real life violence?" which seems like an on-going topic that The frustrating, enduring debate over video games, violence, and guns article talks about in lengthy detail. Leaving the empirical data aside about whether video games have impact on real life violence, both of the big entities involved in this debate, the game industry and the gun advocate groups such as National Rifle Association, are so head to head with each other that this debate is almost impossible at coming to a resolution.

Another shocking but interesting thing for me was the death of Sims characters. Prior to reading this article, I wasn't aware of the fact that Sims could die in the game so reading about the various ways of murdering the Sims came as a big shock.
