What did I do?
National Student Survey and understanding Version Control.
London Show discussion.
What did I learn?
Version Control - what is it?
”the practice of tracking and managing changes to software code”
https://www.atlassian.com/git/tutorials/what-is-version-control#:~:text=Version control%2C also known as,to source code over time.
- Using version control allows for teams to work ‘smarter and faster’.
- Great for development teams to reduce development time and ‘increase successful deployment’.
- Developers can return to the document and make changes if necessary.
- Allows developers to make bug fixes without disrupting the rest of the team.
- Edit version control and keep older versions - keep history
- Solve problems and track changes
How do I do it?
- Create and delete files - all history is kept. This history includes the author, date and other notes regarding what the change was for. This allows us to go back and analyse bugs or fix problems.
