Description:
Some natural hazards, such as floods and hurricanes, are increasing in frequency and intensity. Others, such as earthquakes, continue to pose specific threats to lives, livelihoods, and infrastructure, especially when the built environment lacks resilience. Reconstruction after disasters is not merely a technical task of rebuilding physical structures as they were before, but an opportunity to Build Back Better (BBB), with people’s needs and priorities in mind, thus creating safer, more resilient, and inclusive societies.
