VocalTune ("we," "us," "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our mobile application.

Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information to provide and improve our services:Account Information: Email address, display name, and role (student/coach) when you create an account.Vocal Data: Pitch detection data processed locally on your device. We do not record or store your voice audio.Practice Data: Exercise completion records, precision scores, and practice session durations synced to your account.Vocal Range: Your detected tessitura (lowest and highest comfortable singing notes) if you choose to save it.Device Information: Audio device type (built-in, Bluetooth, wired) for routing purposes. No device identifiers are collected.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:Provide real-time pitch detection and vocal training features.Sync your practice history and progress across devices.Allow coaches to create classes, exercises, and monitor student progress.Auto-tune exercise key ranges based on your vocal range.Improve app performance and fix bugs.

Audio & Microphone Access

VocalTune requires microphone access to detect your vocal pitch in real-time. All audio processing happens locally on your device using a WebView-based pitch detection engine.We do NOT record, store, or transmit your voice audio to any server. Microphone data is processed in real-time and immediately discarded after pitch analysis.

Data Storage & Security

Account and practice data is stored securely using Supabase, an open-source backend platform with row-level security policies.Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text. We use industry-standard encryption for data in transit (TLS/SSL).Local preferences (tuning settings, display options, language) are stored on-device using AsyncStorage and are never transmitted.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.Coach Access: If you join a coach's class, your coach can view your practice statistics, precision scores, and vocal range to provide personalized training.Class Leaderboards: Your display name and practice statistics may be visible to other members of classes you join.

Children's Privacy

VocalTune is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
