Etretinate is a second-generation retinoid that was previously used to treat severe psoriasis but has been largely withdrawn due to its high teratogenicity and long half-life in the body.

Oral Acitretin is a metabolite of etretinate. (prescribe under expert supervision only)

Indications:

• Severe extensive psoriasis resistant to other forms of therapy ,
• Palmoplantar pustular psoriasis (under expert supervision),
• Severe congenital ichthyosis (under expert supervision)
• Severe Darier’s disease (keratosis follicularis)
