My time at SCAD FASH was an excellent opportunity for me to build on the strengths I had already developed in museums and apply them to a more managerial position. Learning to manage a team of student docents was a crucial experience that I quickly adapted to. Having been a student docent, I felt uniquely positioned to help my team succeed.

In addition to managing our docent staff, I also got to be more hands-on with the administrative side of museum operation. I was responsible for maintaining our membership database, researching and writing interpretive material, and occasionally assisting with exhibit installation.

Content Development: Prepared exhibit interpretive guides and researched exhibit items for docent guides.
Customer Service: Facilitated resolving visitor concerns and ensured safe and entertaining guest experiences. Coordinated visitation for VIP guests.

Responsibilities

Managed a staff of student docents and assisted with guest concerns and exhibit issues.
Updated membership list, processed new members, and contacted existing members about upcoming events.
Identified local groups and organizations for collaborative events and/or cross-promotion.
Worked on other projects as assigned, including, but not limited to: researching exhibit information, writing interpretive guides, and coordinating visits with VIP guests.
