After a few years of teaching myself design on the side, I planned a career switch from software engineering to product design. I took on a role at Variance, a YC-backed startup, as their founding product designer (and interim frontend engineer).
When I joined, the company was in the midst of planning a version 2, essentially creating an agentic version of the product. My job was to lead the product, and ship it to customers like GoFundMe and Medium. In 3 months, I implemented a standardized design system for the product & for marketing materials, created a completely new platform, and shipped it. Craziest 3 months of my career, and it burned me a bit - so I moved onto the next.
And, all I’ve got to show is my merch design lol. Enjoy.
