Good morning / afternoon name (and spouse).
Can you see and hear me okay?
(HIT RECORD) Now Name, this meeting is being recorded for quality assurance so that the VSOs know that you are being served at the highest level.
Before we get started, so I have a better understanding, how much was Sponsor Name able to fill you in benefit wise? Okay, I'll back up and fill you in.
I am one of the benefit case managers. We work in cooperation with all of the major VSO’s like the VFW, AMVets and the American Legion.
ONLY CIVILIAN: Now with Sponsor Name being a veteran*,* he*/*she was able to extend some of his/her private veteran benefits to his/her immediate family and close friends. Now, you being his/her (relationship), he/she made sure to put you down. Now what you’re eligible for, that’s what’s a little bit different. Sponsor Name receives a lot of benefits as a veteran. Medical, disability, home loan and GI bill. He/She can’t extend any of his/her government benefits, but everything he/she has through the veteran service organization, like I said over the phone, his/her burial benefits, estate planning, life insurance, amber alert kits for the kids, and the health savings card. That’s everything you’re eligible for. Now they set it up because they know we all have benefits through work, but anytime we go to change jobs or retire, I’m sure you know we lose a lot of our benefits. So that's why they set the permanent benefits program up for the family, so you can have access to something that is permanent and stays with you for the rest of your life as well.
ONLY VET: Now the VSO doesn’t know your personal situation, but they’ve found that all veterans have a very serious gap in their personal burial benefits and estate planning that even the VA doesn't take care of. The VA does a good job serving veterans while you're living, like your medical, disability, home loan & gi bill. Now when it comes to protecting your family, that’s where the VSO’s come in. Your burial benefits, Estate Planning, Veterans permanent Life insurances. Now they also realized that there were many misconceptions between what most veterans thought they were getting, vs what they ARE actually getting even if they're 100% disabled and/or retired.
So they broke this up into two parts for you. So first I like to go over with you is all your prequalified benefits, like the will, health service card, amber alert kits — all that’s already been taken care of for you, and I just go over it with you and show you how to fill it all out. And then I’ll definitely cover the No Vet Left Behind program with you as well, same thing I did with your Sponsor. That's our biggest mission, protect and serve 100% of our veterans. We have about 200,000 that leave the service every single year, and it's got kind of impossible for us because not every veteran is a VSO member or attend their VSO meetings. And lastly is the funeral and final expense benefits and seeing if you qualify for the same veterans permanent life insurance that Sponsor was able to qualify for.
ONLY VET: I will say it's a lot different than the VGLI. I don't know if you remember the VGLI, but that was the one you had to transfer. That was the term life option. Your veterans permanent life is the one that stays with you for the rest of your life. Now, the main difference is at the time when we left the service, VGLI wasn't based off health. Now your veterans permanent is based on your age and health.
Just because Sponsor Name/s has it, doesn’t mean you automatically qualify. It’s still based off age, health and habits. And so that’s where we come in, help out with the qualifications, work together to find a plan that works for you, your family and works with your ****Lifestyle during your open enrollment period, which is here today.
Now, I’m going to share my screen so you can see everything as we go through it all. When we’re done, I’ll do an emailed summary for you so you’ll have everything we’re going over.
Also (NAME), I’ve got a limited amount time here, servicing all the veterans on my schedule, and I’m sure you’re busy as well, so is it okay if I just jump right in?
ONLY CIVILIAN: So I’m going to start with their survey. In order to be eligible for these benefits, you do have to be sponsored in by a veteran.
