<aside> 📌 NEVERLAND ****
Utopias are ideal lands imagined in order to make implicit criticisms of real countries. In modern times, equality has been the main objective of utopians. In a Chinese fiction, the Lieh Tzu, complete by about 200 B.C., Yu the Great discovered a land where “people were gentle, following nature without strife,” practicing free love, and devoted to music. But in individual Western imaginations, most utopias turn out to be dystopias in disguise: deeply repellent, albeit advocated with impressive sincerity. Plato imagined an ideal society, in which arts are outlawed and weak or unwanted infants are killed.
