To gain a better understanding of what potential users would need out of this app and narrow down options for features and styling, I will conduct a few interviews with songwriters. The questions asked will help me gain empathy for them and help me make decisions about what to include in the MVP. The questions are as follows:
- What does your songwriting process usually look like?
- What do you like about it?
- What don't you like so much about the process?
- Have you ever used a mobile app to help you write songs? (voice memos, notes apps, etc.)
- (If yes) What has your experience been with those apps?
- What would be important for you to have in a songwriting app?
- What would you not want to see in the app?
- What would you want an app like this to look like?
- Any other thoughts or questions? Any ideas for potential features, styles, etc?

- What does your songwriting process usually look like?
- driving home from work, dont feel like listening to music, starts singing, melodies arise after repeating something, takes voice memos out at a red light and records something, spends time with the piano, uses voice memo to remember melody, picks out good chords, opens up google docs, put in the chords they like and lyrics they like
- What do you like about it?
- putting the chords to a melody on piano
- What don't you like so much about the process?
- keeping ideas together can be difficult
- Have you ever used a mobile app to help you write songs? (voice memos, notes apps, etc.)
- voice memos, google docs, journals in the notes app
- uses google docs to share with bandmates
- (If yes) What has your experience been with those apps?
- voice memos - if you dont put a name in, it puts in your location which is strange. title should automatically be the date
- doesn't like that the notes app automatically bolds the first line
- What would be important for you to have in a songwriting app?
- a little piano to play within the app would be great, to record melodies on the go
- the ability to make tabs for chords, leads, or whatever would be great as well
- collaboration with bandmates on lyrics, chords, recordings, etc would be awesome
- What would you not want to see in the app?
- What would you want an app like this to look like?
- Any other thoughts or questions? Any ideas for potential features, styles, etc?
