-
approach Upwork as if you were Haroon Khalil bhai
-
just course listening is not enough, because when you apply the steps from courses, you face problems which you can resolve if your are connected to the mentor.
-
do things efficiently. save time, clicks etc.
-
Thought process:
- We choose clients for whom we can make money through our work. if we cannot make the client more money or bring in results then we do not select those clients.
- we do not choose clients who is not serious with his business, who also has budget to pay us. we do not choose short term clients, we can choose short term projects. sometimes a client is long term but their budget is low or our profit margin is low or the niche they have does not have much money
- client hire rate should be 60% or more. sometimes clients ghost you on upwork
- Upwork costs connects(0.15 per connect), IG, Linkedin etc are also good for hunting clients as it does not cost connects.
- on IG/Linkedin we engage with our ICA in comments, likes and then build relationship and invite them to a free session, we sell as if he/she does not know we are selling to them. you give him content strategy in the free session and then take long term work from them.
- we target wealthy markets like USA, UK, Aus etc through our filters.
- we do not just reject a client with one or 2 red flags. e.g. if a client has payment not verified etc then just with this metric we do not reject the client.
Types of clients
- we can pitch to business coaches on IG. businesses which want to make sales through content.
- CEOs who want to make content for their businesses.
- agencies who are looking to hire for their clients.
Keywords
- we will use “video edit” keyword and search if there are jobs good if not then we reload the page. pehli jo job hoti hai wou ad hota hai. sometimes new jobs mein ad wali jobs nazar aati hai.
- jtni new job hai utna jadi bid karo iski zyada probabiltiy hai k client baitha hai. we try to use 30 connects for boost and apply quickly. we track all data in sheet like kitni jaldi apply kiya, boost kitna kiya.
- reload se ye hota hai k 1 day purani jobs niche nazar aaye gi. if after reload no jobs come, we will go to next keyword.
- more keywords: Ebook, digital project maagement, graphic design, logo, VA
Things to look for:
- try to analyze the job quickly whether u should bid or not. we must apply quickly to beat the competiton.
- jitni zyada freebies doge utna wou long term chalega aapke sath.
- some keywords in job heading like LONG TERM, CASH COWS , YUTUBE Automation etc are short term and low budget clients. but not every client should be rejected based on just theses terms.
- some more red flags in job description like “10-12 minute videos”, “or ask you to use eleven labs or voice over etc” or “we will give the script” or “being able to find source and references k photos lagani hain paid”, these are cash cow clients and if they are not paying enough then its a red flag. e,g, one way to identify cash cow client is to see if budget is included in the description. the placeholder value for the budget may not necessarily be true. if a client is writing to make content for a particular channel like football channel/MMA channel etc then it i also a cash cow client. estimated budget in the job post is mostly not accurate , it is either low or high, it is sometimes to lure the freelancer. you can pitch higher rates to clients depends on sales skills.
- payment method: if a client has psoted a lot of jobs but no payment method verified then avoid it, also a client which pays outside upwork is a red flag as they are short term clients etc. it may not be a red flag all the time. it payment method does not matter as well.
- Rating: see rating. also if a client is new and has zero rating then it might be a green flag.
- location;: USA, Aus, UK etc.
- job type: does not matter. can be fixed or hourly. you can communite with client and convert client from hourly to fixed and vice versa. make clients life easy.
- job expertise lever: does not matter but if client has written entry level but want expert work then it might be a red flag
- job duration: the longer the time the better, if someone just wants to have party video then it is short.
- time required: if hours more then it is serious client but if hours are 5 hours or less then we need to pay attention. but may be green flag in some cases.
- see the description carefully it will tell you a lot about AI jobs post, cash cows, scammers etc.
- proposals: less than 5 mostly means 0 proposals. less than 5 also mean new job or bad job .the time that is shown like last seen 30 minutes ago , ye wou time hai jab client ne last time naye proposals check kiye thy, agar client kisi ko interview kar rha hai phir ye time update nahi hota. if there is written k last seen 5 days ago etc then client has not checked new proposals. budget is also mentioned at the last place k low, average and highest bid kitni hai. if proposals are less and time has passed then it may not be interesting. more than 10 proposals mean our proposal will not be viewed if not boosted, we normally boost with 30 connects to secure our place even if other people also bid on it.
after looking at all these metrics from outside the job post , if it is satisfactory we click on the job and see the job post and look for the following metrics:
- payment method verified / phone number verified ? phone number does not matter. if more red flags then payment method matters.
- hire rate(matters most)
- reviews: if a lot of jobs posted and bad reviews then red flag. also see how many reviews.
- country: canadian clients are also bad because of taxes on payment , budget etc.
- no of jobs posted:
- total spent, how many hires: see if hires are more but paid cheap prices thn red flag, understand mentality of clients from this data, how many active hires
- company size, company niche:
- member since data:
- sometimes if hourly rate is higher then maybe he is looking for american or expensive freelancer
- go down to review section and see who the client has hired, what kind of work are others doing in his company, like if it is IT company or media company then workforce will be similar to it. also see the other frelnacer the client has hired, it will give you an idea you why they were hired and the money he/she has spent.
