American society is at least 20 years away from providing a Universal Basic Income, at least the way its supporters envision it.
A UBI funded largely by re-claiming the full $1000/month from individuals with >$50k income, and replacing food stamps, unemployment insurance, and other safety net programs may be possible today. This will be substantially less popular.
We also are 5-10 years away from having a working system for putting money in everyone's bank accounts. Some people don't even have bank accounts.
