We display 3 kinds of vehicle speed data:
Speed data is visible on Compass' Brakepoint and Survey tools. To view speed data, you must first select a route/s on the map and then press the Query button located on the Road Selection Panel. Once you've pressed the Query button, the data for your selections is displayed in the Road Query panel on the right-hand side of the screen. Here, you will find speed data displayed as both a numerical value and in graph formats.
Below is an example of speed data output in Brakepoint.
Average speed is calculated by dividing the total distance that something has travelled, by the total amount of time it took it to travel that distance. Speed is how fast something is going at a particular moment whereas average speed measures the average rate of speed over a period of time.
The median is the middle number in a sorted list of numbers. Thus, Median Speed is the speed at which the speed distribution is separated into two equal parts. The number of the speed values observed higher than median value is equal to the number of observed speed values lower than median value of speed.
