Abberanche is a fungal biome occupied by spores that pollute the air, structures and ground. Only two of its four regions are habitable. In the beginning, this region was occupied by the Abberachian Republic - a danthical nation that grew from a chiefdom to what it was, before the Monarchy annexed their land and took over their territory. The hatred among monarchy’s residents and anyone else is still very prevalent, with different danthical communities usually being tense with one another. Humanity built a camp in this region, but only a few months into their occupation, they were hunted away by the Monarchy. Before the 1st Corporate War, many successful cities of Danthicals, Earthborn and Humans existed here. Now, after the first fissure reactor to exist has exploded, the region has become uninhabitable for most part - the North and East are the most deadly, while the West and South remain inhabited by rogue groups.
The Shearrance Knoll is a clear transition from the jungles of Shearan into the fungal wasteland of Abberanche. Here, most human, Earthborn and Danthical groups dwell. Remains of old villages have been repurposed into newfound camps of different settlements, the land is humid and muddy. Shearranche Knoll is the least hazardous, with minimal spore contamination and toxic fumes from Shearan.
The presence of fungi is minimal, as it instinctively avoids salt water and salty air. The temperatures reach 35c (95f), which disturbs the fungi and dries it out. Combined with the humidity and pools of salt water, the Shearrance Knoll is rated the most habitable out of all Abberanche regions.
The Shearranche Knoll has numerous hubs with unique communities, the most notable are Valkandroff and Haven’s Bridge.
Valkandroff is rooted in an abandoned camp which has been overtaken by hardy fungi which has reinforced the forestation. (As you know, Udyrian Wood is brittle and will shatter if it is put under too much pressure)
Valkandroff uses the same reinforced wood to build their own settlements. They are characterized by generally hostile behavior, being made up of Danthical and Human outlanders who are not politically aligned with anything on the two main continents.
Haven’s Bridge is a group of hybridized outcasts, whether these are kerniyovskoy hybrids, danthicals who were experimented on, Earthborn who were abducted by the NDC and never returned home, or simply children that were born into this hostile environment.
They exchange goods for medicine brewed from resources found within Abberanche. This medicine, although sketchy due to its origin, has been proven reliable and effective almost immediately.
The Mud Grove lies between all the regions, being the middleground. The region is the second most habitable out of all of Abberanche’s zones, however, danger and fungal spores only increase up in the Nothern peaks.
The Mud Grove’s terrain is split into two recognized landmasses.
The South of The Mud Grove is rocky and difficult to travel, the southern peaks are covered in mild, dwarfish forestation that becomes denser and soon blends with Shearan. These zones are home to small types of fungal growth that grow through the ground, making it much more solid and therefore difficult to pass through. They are resistant to the salty sea and fumes from the desert, enduring even the most unpleasant weather conditions that the other fungi species cannot survive.
Small pest animals hide in these small mushroom structures. The majority of this region’s wildlife consists of invertebrates, but it is not uncommon to encounter predators originating from Shearan in the forested zones of The Mud Grove.
The North is a relic of the past, structures built by the Monarchy have outlasted the harsh conditions. Hints of a previous Danthical civilization - the Abberachian Republic, can be found in the most unexplored areas. The presence of Danthicals is much more overbearing than human presence.
All structures in the region have succumbed to the harsh conditions of the land. Concrete blocks have been infested by spores, which gradually break down the reinforced steel inside, making every old building a falling apart hazard. Cabins once built from wood are now made of mushrooms. The only structures which survived the explosion are underground buildings or structures made out of such dense concrete that the fungus cannot break apart.
The least amount of fungi can be found in the Northern East, as it avoids the salty air and water.

The Spore Crags are the highest and second most hazardous region of Abberanche, fully infested by fungi with spores in the air that mimic a snowy wasteland. The air has been consumed by dense clouds of storm and spores. One cannot physically reach this point without an advanced hazmat suit, as the spores will easily suffocate any organic lifeform within hours of traversing this land.
