Urbanora is a mobile-first AI-powered platform that enhances urban issue reporting and resolution. Designed to bridge the gap between citizens and city authorities, Urbanora streamlines the process of receiving, classifying, and routing complaints through intelligent automation. Integrated with platforms like Zmente, it improves operational efficiency by automatically identifying the appropriate department and location for each issue—eliminating the need for manual review.
The design goal was to build an intuitive, responsive mobile experience that empowers users to report city issues effortlessly while ensuring backend teams receive highly structured, actionable data for efficient resolution.
In urban environments, platforms like Zmente allow citizens to report public issues such as potholes, broken lights, or waste management concerns. However, these complaints often span multiple departments and regions. The manual process of reviewing, categorizing, and forwarding these complaints is slow and error-prone, leading to delays and dissatisfaction among residents.
Urbanora aims to solve this by offering an intelligent, automated system that classifies complaints, routes them to the correct department based on content and geolocation, and enhances communication between residents and authorities—all while being seamlessly integrable and open source.
We designed a user-friendly mobile interface that makes reporting issues as easy as taking a photo and selecting a category. Users can submit reports with text, images, and geolocation data. On the backend, Urbanora’s AI-driven classification engine processes the complaint and routes it via customizable channels to the appropriate department. The backend system integrates with Zmente’s API, handling asynchronous requests and ensuring seamless compatibility with existing authentication protocols. Additionally, translation services and similar-issue identification modules further enrich the system’s intelligence and user experience.
