This research report delves into the insights and data gathered to design a user-centric meal prep app. The primary objective was to understand user needs, preferences, and pain points related to meal preparation, with a focus on promoting healthy eating habits and reducing food wastage. Through a combination of user interviews, surveys, and competitive analysis, we have obtained a comprehensive understanding of our target audience's requirements.
The competitive analysis revealed a gap in the market for an Indian meal prep app with features like AI-generated recipes and convenient grocery delivery. Our research methodology included user interviews with a diverse group of participants, showcasing their diverse dietary preferences, a strong desire for convenient cooking methods, and concerns about food wastage. The survey results further reinforced these insights by providing quantitative data on cooking habits, dietary preferences, and interest in app features.

Key findings indicate the demand for personalization, smart meal planning, and efficient utilization of leftovers. Users also expressed a strong interest in budget management and accessibility features such as audio-based instructions and translation features. A significant proportion of respondents highlighted the importance of an in-app grocery shopping feature for added convenience.
The app aims to provide users with an intuitive and efficient way to plan, organize, and execute their meal preparation, promoting healthy eating habits and saving time.
The purpose of this research is to gather insights and data necessary for designing a meal prep app. Our aim is to get an in-depth understanding of user needs, preferences, and pain points related to meal preparation. By analyzing existing competitors, conducting user interviews, and administering user surveys, we aim to gather insights that will drive the design of a user-centered meal prep app.
People with busy lifestyles find it difficult to handle grocery (Ingredients) shopping, meal planning, and food wastage. Since the lockdown people were spending more time in the kitchen and meal planning became essential skill to avoid frequent, unnecessary visits to the supermarket.
🤔 What prompted us to do this research?
People face difficulties in managing their time and energy to buy the right ingredients for their recipes or meal plans. Additionally, they struggle with using leftover ingredients efficiently to prevent wastage. As outlined in the UNEP report, India's per capita annual estimate of food wastage stands at 50 kilograms. However, the collective wastage attributed to Indian households per year is 68,760,163 tonnes.
