UPDATE, May 21, 2026: press release finalized by Sam, all docs aligned
The press release went through several iterations. Sam rejected the first measured rewrite as too much of a public-knowledge recap, then a documentary-toned version, and landed on his own draft, which is now the canonical press release in the kit. Key facts to carry forward:
- The release is a first-person reaction statement of attorneys Sam Aguiar and Jonathan Hollan, who observed the two-day NTSB hearing in person in Washington, D.C. Dateline is WASHINGTON, DC.
- Media contact is Joe Chosinski, jchosinski@kylawoffice.com (not the firm's main line).
- Sam kept the claim that, in four of the five known failures, damage required full structural bulkhead replacements. I could not independently verify that exact ratio in the NTSB folder docket; Sam owns it as the attorney who attended. The visual and blog mirror his wording.
- All six deliverables were rebuilt or edited to align: the letter is co-signed by both attorneys; the visual, blog, social kit, and talking points carry the collective-failure framing, the FedEx-vs-UPS "Big Brown" contrast, the "kept in service after the audit" point, and the Joe Chosinski media-contact routing.
- QA re-run: zero banned words across all six; the only em dash is the standard AP dateline in Sam's verbatim press-release text.
Open item: Sam's raw UPS Flight 2976 - Press Release Draft .docx is sitting in the kit folder (and was open in Word). The canonical formatted file is UPS Flight 2976 - Press Release.docx. The raw draft can be removed once Sam confirms, but it was left untouched because it was open. Publishing and distribution still pending Sam's approval.
Importance: High. Active litigation and public-facing content. Status: Deliverables complete and QA passed; publishing and distribution are PENDING Sam's approval.
What was done
Reviewed the full NTSB investigative hearing record for UPS Flight 2976 (NTSB docket DCA26MA024) in the NTSB folder: four hearing transcript and summary PDFs, the three party-fact docs (Boeing, UPS, ST Engineering), and the mock press release. Built a six-piece communications kit, saved to Documents/NTSB/UPS Flight 2976 - Hearing Update Kit/:
- Press release (.docx) — full rewrite of the mock release; accurate, defensible, still hard-hitting.
- Party Accountability Visual (.html) — infographic with Boeing, UPS, ST Engineering, and FAA failure cards plus a 20-year warning timeline. Print and screenshot ready.
- Letter to the Families (.docx) — warm template with a [Client Name] merge field; reassures families the civil case is moving.
- Blog post (.html) — web-ready for WordPress, includes RankMath fields and FAQ schema JSON-LD.
- Social Media Kit (.docx) — Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X posts plus tone guardrails.
- Media Talking Points (.docx) — internal Q&A for Sam, quick-facts box, lines to avoid, and a Family & Community FAQ.
QA: every file checked. Zero em dashes, zero banned words, facts cross-checked against the NTSB record.
