Early Ideas About Identity, Characters and Worlds

At the start of this unit, I wasn’t confident about creating my own character at all. Honestly, I had no idea where to begin. But what I did know was the type of games and worlds I naturally enjoy: dark corridors, eerie lighting, surreal spaces, weird creatures, anything that feels mysterious or slightly unsettling.

I started collecting references and realised I was drawn to liminal spaces and characters that feel symbolic, rather than just “cool for the sake of it.” Identity started becoming a big part of my thinking: how characters express personality through design, posture, light, colour, and even the environments they walk through.
