Two worlds, since Iizuka mentioned that Sonic's adventures are in two worlds, fandom has started to speculate a thousand times about what this means.

Let's start with the basics, which is that Iizuka being japanese got it all wrong from the translation, not coincidentally ''sekai'' (world in Japanese) has so many meanings beyond 'the world'; as shown in the images it also has social meanings and even generations.

So this also applies to Sonic? Now I'm going to give you an example with the Chao World, and the name and the way that getting there at Sonic Adventure 2 actually makes you think it's in another world/dimension/whatever, but it's not, in fact, the map shows that it's just an island away from humans.

Now it's time to... Classic Sonic, in Sonic Forces Tails mentions that it comes from another dimension, which is not actually stated in the original JP scripts, in fact it says, "another world" And remember Silver always refers to his future as ''my world''? Exactly.

Nevertheless, in SXSW 2019, Iizuka said that Modern Sonic is in one timeline and Classic in another. That's what his translator said. But as I listen to him, Iizuka mentions Modern in his timeline, and for Classic he says "sekai", so I'd say this is a case similar to MegaMan X series and MegaMan Zero series.

In conclusion, given the Japanese grammar, the presence of the Chao World and the future Silver world, I'd say we're in one of those cases of translation and adaptation errors There's no two worlds, just one There are not two different Sonic, they're the same Sonic

In the same interview, Iizuka refers to Emerald Coast as a place belonging to Sonic's world, which is really contrary in the canon, further proof that it is a translation error.

"The world that Sonic lives in and the world the humans live in are separate worlds." "The place where Sonic and his friends live." As Iizuka said, Sonic lives in a different place from the human, in Sonic Battle he lives in Emerald Town with his friends.
