Tropical Storm Elsa has made landfall off of Florida's gulf coast near Taylor County this afternoon and will continue to make its way inland through Georgia and the Carolinas by the end of the week. The storm has weakened as it has approached the coast line from its journey through the Caribbean Sea and eastern parts of the Gulf of Mexico. The storm has left a lot of destruction in its path as it passed over the island of Cuba and it continues to pose a threat with high winds, possible tornadoes and heavy rainfall.

According to The Weather Channel, the weather watches have been extended up to the state of New Jersey in preparation for the damages that could occur from the storms current path. Many in Florida have been advised to limit travel and seek shelter until the storm has passed.

Many of the residents and local governments within Florida have reported flooded streets and areas from the heavy rainfall. The storm has upgraded to a Category 1 Hurricane on Tuesday, July 6th, before weakening back down to a tropical storm Wednesday morning. Now the storm has been reported to be heading towards southern Georgia and continues to makes its way north along the east coast where it is projected to decrease even further to a tropical depression once it reaches South Carolina.
