Transit Filter — Privacy Policy

Data Collection

Transit Filter does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information. The extension operates entirely on your device.

Data Stored Locally

The extension stores the following data locally on your device using Chrome's storage API:

• User preferences (selected transit provider, maximum travel time, filter settings)
• Cached transit travel times to avoid redundant API requests

This data never leaves your device and can be cleared at any time by removing the extension.

Third-Party API Requests

To calculate public transit travel times, the extension sends requests to the following third-party services:

• Transitous / MOTIS (api.transitous.org) — open-source transit routing
• Google Routes API (routes.googleapis.com) — transit routing (only if user provides their own API key)
• TravelTime API (api.traveltimeapp.com) — isochrone calculation (only if user provides their own API key)
• OpenStreetMap Nominatim (nominatim.openstreetmap.org) — address geocoding

These requests contain only geographic coordinates (latitude/longitude) of hotels and destinations. No personal information, browsing history, or account data is included.

Hotel Booking Sites

The extension reads hotel listing data (name, location, card position) from supported booking sites to display transit badges. It does not read, access, or transmit any personal account information, payment details, or booking history.

Analytics

Transit Filter does not include any analytics, tracking, or telemetry.
