There are three main methods to complete tax training and two methods two complete certification:
Link and Learn Taxes: Provides a comprehensive overview of all tax law topics. Best for returning volunteers. You do not need an account to complete the training courses, but will need one for to complete the certification exam. Information for how to create an account is listed below.
LABC Learn: Introduces key VITA procedures and a general overview of tax law and video overviews of how to use the tax software.
**VITA Train:** Offers a strong overview of tax law topics with additional quizzes and practice exercises.
All VITA Volunteers are required to complete the Volunteer Standards of Conduct and Intake and Interview certification exams. Volunteers wishing to serve as tax preparers may complete either the Basic or Advanced certification exam, along with any other specialty exams they wish to complete. For each of the certification options, you will need to create an account using Link and Learn or LABC Learn. After you do that, you will be able to take the IRS Certification Exams and complete the VITA Volunteer Agreement, Form 13615.

Complete the Registration Fields:
After you complete the registration form, complete the certification exams you wish to take. Once you are finished, click the check box on the right hand side of the screen to download your completed Volunteer Agreement, Form 13615.
To get certified on LABC learn, you will need to create an account before completing the certification exams. After you complete the exams, send and email to [email protected] and we will email you a copy of your Volunteer Agreement, Form 13615 for you to sign electronically.
