Travel Guide - Toffhelm

Your basic guide to the entire region of Toffhelm.

Summary

Ecology

Landscape

Toffhelm’s defining feature is the massive volcano in the north known as Mt. Augany. Surrounding this volcano is a vast mountain range that towers over the region, and serves as the dividing point between Toffhelm and Fellnore. The southern half of the continent is home to lush soils and rich biodiversity. Many who visit Toffhelm for the first time may find themselves shocked by the forests and animals present in the region, as most outsiders often assume that the whole region is dry, cracked, and vacant.

Climate

Toffhelm’s climate is often humid and stormy, yet surprisingly has cooler temperatures than that of their neighbors in Fellnore and Edoril.

Fauna & Flora

Animals commonly found in a volcanic region are present in northern Toffhelm. This includes inguanas, mountain goats, red foxes, hedgehogs, shrews, rabbits, buzzards, lizards and geckos. Flowers include hibiscus, fireweed, edelweiss, sulfurflower, passionflowers, and mountian orchids. In the south, you’ll find huge forests of pines and paraspoina trees, which are unique in that they can thrive in harsher conditions where most trees would not survive in a volcanic region.

Points of Interest

Augany Mountain Range

A massive mountain range in the northern half of Toffhelm, home to most of Toffhelm’s defining features.

Mt. Augany

The great volcano in the north is a feared and respected beast. While the mines below provide many gifts of gold and rare metals, the heat within has the power to take it all away. Though its name is clearly derived from the study of precious metals, most foreigners hear the name and think it is called Mt. Agony. This was never corrected, so maps in other regions often have the incorrect spelling.

Sacred Forge of Augany

The most protected place in all of Toffhelm is the Sacred Forge. Inside this sacred forge lies the “Heart of Mt. Augany”, or the source of the immense heat that allows them to forge some of the greatest metals known to Dulora.

Mighty Mines

A vast collection of tunnels and caverns dug into the ground beneath the Augany Mountains where one can find many of Dulora’s rarest and most precious stones, metals and minerals. Temperatures in these mines can reach up to 300°F, which is where dwarves and lizardfolk shine the most, as they can survive extreme temperatures such as these.

Toffjard

The massive fortress built into the side of the Augany Mountains.

Grand Galaur

A coliseum-like circular battle arena in the southern part of Toffhelm where the Ritual of Reckoning and the Rite of Rule take place.
