What is Today Expenses App?

Today Expenses is a notebook-style expense and income tracker. Open the app to see your Today Page — a ruled notebook page where you jot down your financial records for the day. Each day has its own page. Turn the page to go back to previous days or forward to future days.

How do I add a record?

Tap the Expense or Income tab at the top of the page to set the record type, then tap any empty line and type naturally. For example:

• "Coffee $4.50"
• "Taxi to airport 18"
• "Salary payment 2500"

The app will automatically extract the category and amount from what you typed. The type — expense or income — is set by whichever tab you have selected. The app does not detect this from your text.

How do I record income?

Tap the Income tab at the top of the Today Page before typing your record. Everything you type while the Income tab is active will be recorded as income.

Can I add records for past or future dates?

Yes. Turn the page to go to a previous or future day. You can view, add, edit, and delete records on any page.

AI and Category Detection

What AI models does Today Expenses support?

Today Expenses supports two on-device AI models for automatic category and amount detection:

• Apple Foundation Models — powered by Apple Intelligence, available on iPhone 15 Pro and later running iOS 26. Reads your note as a complete sentence and infers meaning from full context.
• Pre-Trained Model — a lightweight text classifier built specifically for Today Expenses and trained on 16,700 expense and income notes across 71 everyday categories. Works on every iPhone, with or without Apple Intelligence.

Both models run entirely on your device. Your data is never sent to any server.
