What is a snip?

At TechSnips, all of the instructional videos you see on our website are what we refer to as 'snips'. They are short, laser focused how-tos that cover a single topic. They don't go into detail about why you might want to use a certain product or why you should be following this process, they instead are a fluff-free guide on how to accomplish a task. So before you sit down to record your audition snip, you should first watch some of the published snips on our website to familiarize yourself with the snip style.

Picking a topic

You shouldn't worry about trying to impress us with your skillz, but instead pick a simple topic that you already know forwards and backwards. This positions you to focus on demonstrating your presentation skills, which is what we are most interested in seeing. Though, in reality, if you simply show promise of becoming a good presenter, that is good enough for us! We're happy to work with anyone who is dedicated to improving themselves.

Editing

You should be aware that we have editors on staff that edit all snips before they are published. This includes things like adding in highlights, adding a title screen and removing mistakes. So if you do make a mistake while recording your audition, simply pause, go back, and re-state or re-demonstrate what you made the mistake on. We don't judge mistakes here since we all make them.
