WHEREAS the border has been widely theorized and cited as a violent physical, psychic, political and economic technology, one that is central to the reproduction of global capital; and
WHEREAS the University of the Phoenix (led by Cassie Thornton and Max Haiven) is the world’s only for-prophet educational institution dedicated to teaching the living and the dead to rise up together to avenge the crimes and cruelties of global capitalism; and
WHEREAS the border is one of the most potent present-day manifestations of the forms of colonialism, imperialism, racism and patriarchy that shaped modern capitalism; and
WHEREAS the University of the Phoenix should not be mistaken for the University of Phoenix, the parasitic US-based for-profit “university” that actively discriminates against the participation of the dead; and
WHEREAS the border and the economy are both phantasmatic apparitions, which is not to say they are not real but rather to say that they are structures of the imagination which also shape the imagination; and
WHEREAS nonetheless today borders directly and indirectly murder tens of millions of human beings and also enable the untolled murder of trillions of other expressions of life; and
WHEREAS the border is not (any longer) simply a geographic frontier but a proliferation or multiplication of interventions into social life, a collective psychic architecture both within (encrypted by) and surrounding (encrypting) the imagination; and
WHEREAS it is well known that ghosts have no respect for borders; and
WHEREAS the dead demand righteous vengeance; and
WHEREAS ancient human traditions and new scientific discoveries have revealed the untenability of metaphysical notions that make a clean break between the “inside” and the “outside” which is at the core of border ideologies and government apparatuses, for instance emblematized by institutions like “The Ministry of the Interior”; and
WHEREAS it is not uncommon, across hundreds if not thousands of formations of human civilization, that possession by the spirits of the dead manifest, in part, in ritual or spontaneous regurgitation (vomiting); and
WHEREAS in recent Western history and popular culture the regurgitated substance is often known as ectoplasm, a hypothetical substance imbued with potent material and immaterial properties; and
WHEREAS regurgitation of internal fluids and substances creates an interface between the so-called human microbiome and the broader community of biotic life external to the body of the so-called human being; and
WHEREAS the border is a paranoid father;
WHEREAS ghosts and microbes are known to conspire against the state/capital nexus;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the University of the Phoenix will host a series of experiments not limited to participatory lecture-performances, public acts of performative interspecies vengeance, emetic seances and rituals of collective liberation and decryption at the Applied Microperformativity Symposium in Vienna on December 14, 2018.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the objective of the aforementioned activity will be to train so-called human and other-than-human participants (living and dead) to antagonize, soil, ridicule, dissolve, disrupt or befoul the border in its many valences.
