Therapy and psychiatry provided specifically through Telehealth has seen an increase in usage especially due to COVID-19 whether in full-stack companies or just focused on the individual client-to-patient relationships.

Challenges/Solutions

<aside> 1️⃣ Outcome measurement. This challenge is not just one to be solved by clinicians but also by technology platforms in order to see what the important measurements are and how they can be used to help patients. By owning the full stack (from outcome measurement to employer), companies are able to utilize those insights for more effective care.

<aside> 2️⃣ Greater access. Telehealth allows patients in more rural areas to access quality care when they usually would not be able to. It also allows providers more flexible scheduling and lower wait times for patients. Check out how companies are doing this in a more general sense in the Solutions page.

<aside> 3️⃣ Go-To-Market. Where do you start? This question is one many startups are asking. Most are initially going with a B2B model where employers act as mini health plans. At this stage, companies have faster sales cycles (not like insurance cycles which are 36 months) allowing them to learn their product-market fit. One trouble in this model is getting employees to sign up where the average utilization rate is around 3-5%. One solution is using an aligned incentive model where the company pays less if more employees sign up.

<aside> 4️⃣ Regulation. Although Telehealth offers more continuous/technology-based care, the question remains to what degree Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations will change post-COVID after a very relaxed year.
