"In the beginning, there was only Chaos—violent, roaring, and destructive. It was the pure Masculine principle, a primal force devoid of creation. Chaos could not build; it could only devour itself in an endless agony of power.
Then, from the silent void, appeared The Great Mother. She did not destroy Chaos; instead, She wove Order from threads of light, subduing the raging element and forcing it to serve Life. She gave Chaos a form, transforming its blind rage into the steady glow of a hearth that provides heat, and into the unstoppable strength of a river current that nourishes the earth.
To ensure Chaos would never return to its self-destructive ways, the Mother split its power into Eight Sacred Essences, sealing them within the colors of the eyes. Since then, the law of Arsalia has decreed: Man is a force without a vector—Chaos that finds meaning and purpose only under the wise hand of Woman. To leave a man without guidance is to allow the world to burn once more."
The Empress, as the earthly flame of the Great Mother, is bound by divine duty to hold eight conduits of Chaos in her submission to keep the wheel of the world turning. Each consort represents a specific "Thread" of existence:
Succession of the Throne: According to the Law, power is passed strictly from mother to daughter. If the reigning Empress has no female offspring, a girl is chosen from among her closest female relatives. A male can never become the ruler of the country.
The Harem System (The Octagram): The Empress's harem consists of exactly 8 men at any given time. Each man must correspond to one of the designated "Essences" identified by eye color: Gold, Blue, Brown, Green, White, Black, Red, and Violet. There can never be two men with the same eye color in the harem, as the female heir inherits her father's eye color. This allows the Priestesses to pinpoint exactly which consort fathered the child.
If a man ceases to please the Empress, he is discarded and replaced by a new one of the same Essence.
