Listed below are the unique things we value as a team. These shared values help direct and guide our efforts as we work together on all aspects of the Wildcard experience.

Fun First

We value fun over finance. We value engagement over economy. We value community over coins. These guiding principals are especially important as we embrace the new technologies and platforms collectively known as “Web3”.

We love building new things. Emerging Web3 technologies present compelling opportunities to explore and expand frontiers in video game design, storytelling, player agency, distributed value, and community governance. We are thrilled to pursue these frontiers, but only insofar as they further the vision and mission of Wildcard.

For many, web3 seems to be a solution in search of a problem. For us, web3 is (part of) the solution for how we deliver an even more fun, compelling experience.

Everyone Plays

What do Age of Empires, Words With Friends, Lucky’s Tale - and now Wildcard - all have in common? For each of these games, the teams shared a unified purpose: to reach and connect new audiences.

In our pursuit of this purpose, we have been continuously drawn to new technologies and emerging platforms. This is where we have repeatedly found ways to create entertainment that is even more accessible and inclusive. In the case of Wildcard, tuning in to watch your favorite streamer, as part of a live and interactive audience, is the most casual and accessible way to enjoy a video game yet!

This is still, 25 years later, the common thread that binds our team together. We want to find new ways to reach the people who aren’t currently playing our games. We want to expand what it means to be a player. We want to find new ways for people to connect and to play. With Wildcard, competition, collection, and community participation are all valid, meaningful ways to be a part of the experience.

Safety, Security, Sustainability

We’re in this for the long term. We want to build games and tell stories that can endure for generations. We want to be a part of a community where people treat each other with respect and kindness. We want Wildcard to be something that people are enjoying decades from now.

This requires that we consistently prioritize long-term principals over short-term agendas. It requires that we prioritize the safety, security, health, and sustainability of our community. It also means that we need to make responsible decisions when it comes to the technologies we use, especially as it pertains to web3/blockchain platforms that have historically been quite inefficient and environmentally wasteful.

Finally, we have strong feelings about privacy and security. Wildcard is made for everyone to enjoy, and therefore its reputation as a safe, secure experience is of make-or-break importance to us. Web3 platforms still have much work to do to meet these standards for user experience and customer safety, but these are challenges we are excited to work on, and we’re optimistic about the future.
