I didn’t make a Monk subclass, and I probably should have. Mostly, I didn’t want a big focus on other lands besides Omesa (keeping it fairly self-contained) so “stranger from a strange land” is now a little harder to fit in. But the more I think about it, the more, yes, obviously, you should be able to play David Carradine in Kung Fu or Jackie Chan from Shanghai Noon.
My current leaning approach is that before the Old Gods and the Dragons destroyed each other, some good dragons left ancient wisdom for the mortal peoples to defend themselves against the threats they no longer could. But of course, these pieces of wisdom are enigmatic and hard to understand, and thus monasteries popped up to study and practice the teachings. Ta da, monks!
But I’m not 100% on this idea JUST have monks in game, but maybe fleshing out the dragons more is not a bad thing. Thoughts?
November 7, 2025 I’m thinking ancient monk monestaries are where the teachings of the old “good dragons” live on.
