For the first blog post, let’s talk about why I started this brand!
This story goes back four years ago (December 2020), when my beloved dachshund, A-Meng, passed away. Life felt so empty afterward.
On my commute to work, I would start crying at the thought of A-Meng. Seeing the scars on my hand from her bites gradually fade also brought tears to my eyes. It felt like my heart was broken.
As time passed, I found myself emotionally unraveling (I wasn’t someone who used to cry, nor did I know how to process emotions). This led to mental struggles. I wouldn’t say I had depression, but I was certainly down, and nothing could lift my spirits.
A year later, I decided to document A-Meng’s memory through creative work, and that’s how this brand was born!
Many of you may have noticed that while I say this brand commemorates A-Meng, the dachshund-themed products are limited to just “three postcards and two sticker sets.” It doesn’t seem like much of a tribute. This is probably because looking at her photos often makes me cry, so I can only manage to create a few items.
Additionally, aside from dogs, I also love other animals, so I don’t limit my creations to just one theme.
I remember when I started designing the "Four Kings" keychain series (polar bear, sea turtle, hippo, and dinosaur). It struck me that these animals needed more attention and that we should treat them with greater kindness.
Many people overlook how much we harm animals’ rights for our own interests. This realization led me to start creating.
For example, polar bears face survival challenges due to global warming, and marine debris causes injuries to sea turtles. That’s when I realized—I wanted to speak up for them!
This made me focus more on animal protection topics. I recalled feeling especially sad whenever I read articles or saw photos of animals hurt or displaced due to human activities. It reinforced how selfish humans can be.
Through my creations, I aim to convey these messages in a humorous and playful way. For example, a sea turtle wearing stockings symbolizes the harm marine debris causes to ocean creatures. I hope to use these designs to remind people of the impact of their actions. (I’ll explain the ideas behind each creation in future posts.)
At the same time, embracing "different perspectives" also means exploring things I love outside of animals. I’m particularly fond of the art and culture of the Renaissance era, so you’ll find some reimagined works from that period among my creations. Of course, there are also some purely fun, non-meaningful designs.
In short, the brand began as a way to commemorate A-Meng. Over time, it has evolved into a platform for speaking up for animals and showcasing the things I love.
That’s why you’ll find eco-friendly bags among the products. I hope that while enjoying my creations, customers can also embrace the concept of protecting the environment.
As I create more products, I’ve noticed the reimagined classical paintings have become the most popular. However, I hope that in the future, more people will pay attention to my animal advocacy creations because that’s where my true message lies.
