Previously known as Vanguard Co.; Nyvarn
Vanguard Co. was a puppet company of Sky Calls that would provide the conglomerate with materials and resources. Their involvement with Earth industry allowed them to control the flow of materials and resources through different countries, through which they were able to steal from the market and give the stolen property to Sky Calls. Their decline in this deal was the key move that broke their alliance with the New Dominion Confederation.
Basic Information
Government Type: Corporate Fundamentalism
Capital City: Canalbo
- New Dominion Confederation era: Vanguard grew as a large company that maintained the flow in the Udyrian industry. At some point, when one of the corporations fell apart, they were put in charge of trade and the market of the newborn states as an indirect pressure from the New Dominion Confederation.
- Purpose of Formation: Vanguard Co. declared independence from the New Dominion Confederation during severe internal issues within the conglomerate. Although this freedom was granted, Vanguard Co. and the rest of the conglomerate had extremely tense relations. This instability influenced the world negatively and indirectly weakened the economy. The company only became an empire after the conglomerate fell apart and the Directorate arose as a separate nation. People affected by the collapse needed a leader. Someone emerged from among the population, proclaimed himself king of the next nation, and thus the Nyvarn Empire was born. Highvalk was then established as the heart of the empire.
- Key Industries & Economy: Vanguard Co. originally earned money by controlling the flow of resources and materials across Earth and through its involvement in logistics, stock markets, and the sale of rare materials.
Cultural Identity:
- Architecture: Nyvarn’s streets contain ornamental buildings balancing functionality and aesthetic value. Their style is Gothic, influenced by Udyrian wood and coastal materials. Buildings are tall, with large amounts of glass, and often include religious motifs. Religion shapes the architecture, as Nyvarn rejected the old New Dominion Confederation approach of plain, utilitarian buildings used solely as workplaces.
- Religion: Most of Nyvarn’s society is religious. Two main religions dominate, though many smaller ones exist. Conflicts sometimes arose under the first king when citizens practiced unfamiliar or foreign religions.
- Resources: Nyvarn no longer uses primitive Earth materials except for spreading Earth saplings. They have adapted to Udyrian minerals, ores, and compounds. Their coastlines give them access to coral, which is harvested for ornate structures. They were among the first to master the use of Udyrian wood, enabling strong warships in past conflicts. They avoid deep-sea exploration due to dangerous fauna, but coastal villages prepare cultural dishes made from sea creatures. A large percentage of society is resistant to sea poison due to reliance on ocean food during the worst war years. Nyvarn’s population is known to be hostile toward foreign authority, giving the nation a slightly xenophobic and pretentious reputation.
Social Structure & Culture:
The current leader is Empress Serpentine Perithiator, the last daughter of the fallen emperor who died of a terminal disease.
- Education & Knowledge: Education is average but focuses on practical careers and engineering. Many successful engineers and doctors originate from Nyvarn due to their unique understanding of poisons and unusual dishes containing poisonous ingredients. Their education is shaped by war techniques, the use of organic war vessels (cavalry and Ahamtara units), and an emphasis on animal care, veterinary fields, augmentation, and anatomical studies. Religion is not deeply integrated into education. Studying religions outside Nyvarn is forbidden, but subjects such as witchcraft, past lives, and local legends are common.
- Religious Influence: Religion is optional for citizens, but foreign religions are forbidden. The monarch family believes outside spiritual influence could divide the nation or remake it in the image of the New Dominion Confederation.
