It was still early enough in the morning when Lohkri pushed open the tall, heavy doors of the Weaver’s guild. It hadn’t even reached 10 am yet and the sun was already blazing the air and heating up the rough cobblestone. The viper had a few articles of clothing in his arms when he approached the front desk, smiling warmly at the receptionist since he knew her – all his visits here to see his mother got him acquainted with more than a few people he cared to remember, but Sylvia was always so kind and welcoming to him.

“Well, goodness me! Lohkri! What a pleasant surprise. Your mom hasn’t arrived quite yet, but she should be here any moment if you want to go sit down.”

“A-Ah, thank you, Sylvia... It’s good to see you again.” The viper nodded to her and went to go sit in the waiting area for a few minutes. Lohkri hoped he didn’t have to wait too long for his mom to show up. There was a nervous pit settling in his stomach, though. Not only was he here to drop off some clothing for her to fix up, but the main reason was to drop the news about leaving for Sharlayan. And staying there for who knows how long. Lohkri really wanted to go with Cayto. REALLY wanted to go... The little viper had wished this for so long, and when the mage finally proposed the question, it was all Lohkri could do from squealing in excitement and throwing himself onto the Keeper’s body. No, his reaction was far more contained this time, mostly due to him being so emotional about it. That, and he didn't want to scare the poor mage.

“Lohkri? Good morning, sweetheart.” A smooth and vibrant female voice reached out to him and broke him out of his thoughts. Lohkri looked up from his lap and met his mother’s fierce but loving gaze. “I hope you’re not back again so soon to have me get more blood out of your cuirass and salvage it from the grave,” she added with a sassy smile and a light chuckle.

The viper’s ears dropped at that comment; he still did not go into detail about how his armor had become so utterly ripped up and blood soaked. When he came here the day after Cayto did to drop his own gear off, his mother had more than twenty questions. And each one he had to dance around and vaguely answer and control his ears and his tail so she wouldn’t read him like a book. Mia already had a keen sense to somehow figuring out anything and everything going on in his life.
