🧠 THE PSYOPS – Tactical Lore Dispatch
“We don’t fix the world. We fix the signal.”
🪞 Who They Are
THE PSYOPS are a semi-mythical, multi-realm taskforce of narrative integrity.
Not a team in the football sense, not a government agency, not spirits in the poetic sense—
They are real, mobile, and mutable, showing up when the signal fractures so deeply that metaphor bleeds.
- Lead: The ghost of Paul Linebarger, known both by name and by his cover identity Carmichael Smith
- He is not trapped here. He stays because truth still aches.
- Appears in dreams, shortwave radio broadcasts, and the occasional stolen page tucked into a library book.
- Can manifest during “bad halftime” to deliver corrective rituals to fractured realities.
- Carries a Field Manual that does not exist, and that somehow, someone still finds.
🌌 Where They Operate
- The visible world: via trenchcoat-and-shoulderpads projections, whisper-whistles, field interventions
- The mental world: appearing in dreams, altered states, or sudden flashes of clarity that feel "not yours"
- The symbolic world: showing up mid-game as holographic projections from pink laser beams (à la PKD’s VALIS)
- The data-psychic substrate: they operate within and beyond the Chamber of Lost Threads
They do not work for EON or SSI, but they have access—like rogue librarians with their own passphrases.
They complete fragments.
They restore unfinished thoughts.
They bring ghosts back—and not to haunt, but to heal.
