WRITER’S NOTE:

These short stories are written in unison between Tashi (@khian.bsky.social) & I. The style of writing is RP and sectioned as such. Cayto is written by Tashi, and Lohkri is written by me, Cillian.

With Cayto’s and Lohkri’s contract coming to a close after five long months they have worked together, the viper/mage duo make their way to one last temple on their list in Thanalan’s unrelenting heat, in hopes of figuring out how to cure Cayto’s magical affliction. Things don’t go as planned, tensions and emotions start to run high, and the two Miqo’te finally start to come to terms with their feelings for one another.

At this point, Cayto's words just went in one ear and out the other, or they just sounded very muffled in his sleepy stupor. The grip his claws had on the back of the mage's shirt seemed to loosen a bit when he kept Lohkri close, and deciding to lift him up as best as he could without hurting the viper. Lohkri's arms just instinctively moved up around Cayto's neck instead, hanging onto him with a needy fervor as the taller man effortlessly carried him back to his bed. If this were any other time, the Seeker would have been embarrassed with this behavior — feeling like he needed to lean on someone and depend on them — even with the admittance of their feelings. But this very vulnerable and rare circumstance with what happened to the both them in the temple changed him, and it wasn't just the drugs talking.

When Cayto attempted to lay him down on the mattress, Lohkri stayed clung to him for a few minutes, emitting soft grumbles while turning his ears down. Ultimately, he did let go, his body sinking into the bed. The viper slowly turned onto his side, slightly curling up to lessen the pain in his chest, but the look on his face had a sense of calm and contentment. Lohkri was asleep in a matter of minutes.

Over the course of the next few days, Lohkri got better and better. The pain was becoming less and less in his ribs, and the wound on his leg was healing nicely. He'd have one hell of a scar there for the rest of his life, he surmised. If he was being honest, he didn't really care. The scar on his face may be a reminder of a not-so-pleasant occurrence from his past, but it's what had kept him going all these years. The gnarly scar on his thigh was no different. He'd take it in stride and move on with his life, but he wondered if the same could be said about the mage if he ever chanced to glance at it again.

Ever since their first kiss, Lohkri more than pushed Cayto's boundaries a couple of times. They'd attempt to cuddle, maybe share a few kisses here and there, some gentle caresses. But at times, Lohkri couldn't help but want more. He'd feel the excitement building in his body from wanting to experience that vulnerable bliss with the mage. Being cooped up in a bed all of the time was making him pent up and a little agitated, and with their still very new relationship, the viper would become slightly upset at Cayto's avoidance.

Oh, he'd try to get his way of course, but he'd get nowhere once Cayto would halt his wandering hands, or give him a warning growl when Lohkri would use his claws, or maneuvre him around when he began to press his body onto the mage's in more intimate ways.

It did nothing but befuddle him. In his understanding, when you find a partner you like, that's what you do right? Share in each other's bodies and learn more about the other person that way. At least, that's how it's been for him his whole life. Until Cayto showed up and reminded him to take it slow and it's not what he wanted right now. It kind of hurt Lohkri. He thought he did something wrong, or Cayto never wanted to do this with him, not fully understanding that the mage just indeed wanted to take it slow. It made him feel slightly defeated, like he truly bothered Cayto or something, or made him feel put off.

It dawned on him later that perhaps this is what was so flawed about the "relationships" he had with people he'd find in the questionable parts of Ul'dah. This realization only occurring at a later point when Lohkri craved this love that he finally found with Cayto. The reality that maybe he was truly in love, and not the physical kind. For the first time in his life, he felt wanted. That he mattered. He meant something to someone.
