WRITER’S NOTE:

These short stories are written in unison between Tashi (@khian.bsky.social) & I. The style of writing is RP and sectioned as such. Cayto is written by Tashi, and Lohkri is written by me, Cillian.

With Cayto’s and Lohkri’s contract coming to a close after five long months they have worked together, the viper/mage duo make their way to one last temple on their list in Thanalan’s unrelenting heat, in hopes of figuring out how to cure Cayto’s magical affliction. Things don’t go as planned, tensions and emotions start to run high, and the two Miqo’te finally start to come to terms with their feelings for one another.

The sound of a loud, thrumming heartbeat could be felt and heard radiating — pulsing violently — in the depths of his mind. After the hornet infected him with its poison, Lohkri's vision became clouded, a black smoke plaguing his sight and trapping him in an endless void. As the poison settled in his system, the desperate attempt to breathe oxygen clawed at his throat and choked him, feeling his very limbs catch on fire and betray him when he tried to move. Lohkri lay there on his side, motionless, still as stone as his eyes pointed towards the direction of Cayto fending off the rest of the beasts. But he couldn't see what was going on. His eyes cast a blank stare, a glossy film coating his once lively, honey-colored irises. The viper could faintly hear the clashing of flung spells and Cayto's frustrated yelling as he fought tooth and nail to rid them of these monsters.

Then, silence. Darkness enshrouded him. Lohkri couldn't hear Cayto calling his name as he slipped in and out of consciousness. The Seeker's cold body lay limp against the mage's torso when he picked him up, holding him close as he panicked to save him. The heartbeat in his ears continued unabated, his every extremity feeling numb and seemingly nonexistent. But as the powerful deluge of white magic flowed into his body like a river bursting forth from a dam, color began to slowly return to his broken frame. The viper's face was still fairly colorless, his heart rate slow and unchanging, but his breathing became less ragged and more streamlined as the poison was slowly plucked from his veins.

"Lohkri... can you hear me?" Cayto's words were muffled, lost. Nothing.
