Arcanist Subclass — The Infused
Whether through experimentation, divine accident, or forbidden self-alteration, your body houses a volatile arcane reactor — one that hums beneath your skin. The current within you is both your greatest power and your greatest peril. You don’t cast magic — you are magic.
FOUNDATION FEATURE — Internal Reservoir
You contain a living reserve of power called your Reservoir, a well of raw magic that fuels your body and spells.
You begin each rest with 0 Reservoir Points and can hold up to 5 at a time.
Gaining Reservoir Points
You gain 1 Reservoir Point when:
- You spend Hope on a magical action.
- You succeed on a magical roll by 5 or more.
- An enemy fails a roll against your spell or magical effect (once per enemy per scene).
Spending Reservoir Points
You may spend Reservoir Points for the following effects (no action required unless stated):
- Reactive Surge (1 RP): When you take damage, reduce it by your Intellect modifier (minimum 1).
- Crackling Strike (1 RP): When you hit with a magical or melee attack, deal +1d6 energy damage (fire, lightning, or force).
- Surge Heal (2 RP): Regain hit points equal to your level + Intellect.
You lose all unspent Reservoir Points when you finish a rest.
SPECIALIZATION FEATURE — Infused Form
Once per scene, you may spend 2 Reservoir Points to enter your Infused Form for one minute (or until you become incapacitated).
While in Infused Form:
- You gain +2 Armor.
- Your magical attack rolls have Advantage.
- Your unarmed strikes deal 1d8 force damage and count as magical.
- You may make one unarmed strike as a free action after casting a spell.
- When you take the Attack action, you may replace one attack with a spell action.
At the end of Infused Form, mark 1 Stress — the strain of holding that much magic.
