| DESCRIPTION | The Icosawyrm is a long-bodied serpent resembling a dragon that has twenty insectoid legs along its body. The Icosawyrm appears to have two primary arms, both ending with three-fingered hands with sickle-claws to act like thumbs. It has four vestigial eyes, two whiskers near the front of its snout, and six small nostrils. Its jaw and dental make-up align with predatory creatures of the Falls - indicating this creature is either a carnivore or omnivore.
It has soft skin along its belly, protected by a layer of dense scales and a tertiary layer of skin. Its belly can glow with a bioluminescent sheen on command. The tertiary layer of skin appears to be coated in a thin layer of slime, likely to help with movement in Layer 4’s cavern systems and tight spaces. | | --- | --- | | HABITAT | The Icosawyrm, so far, has only been discovered residing in the caves of Layer 4. Whether it is suitable to reside in other layers is uncertain, but considered unlikely due to its adaptive traits suited to Layer 4’s distinct ecosystem (such as its vestigial eyes). | | BEHAVIOR | Only one (1) Icosawyrm has been found as of writing these notes, but there is a near certainty for there to be more residing in Layer 4. Many sites were discovered during cave exploration that resembled nests, the nesting site where the first specimen was found matching them all rather closely. It is unknown whether Icosawyrm prefer to be in packs or are solitary creatures.
Upon being approached, the Icosawyrm being observed displayed what could be potentially a territorial or defensive response. It was noticed during this display that it remained curled around the center of its nest, protecting what appeared to be a small trove of treasures. Therefore, it is suspected that this creature likes to gather and horde items of interest. |
